CW4 Herbert Thomas Kerr, 68, of Sedalia MO, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012, at his home.  He was born on June 24, 1943, in Independence, MO, a son of Harry and Helen (Mills) Kerr.

On December 3 1997, in Las Vegas, NV, he was united in marriage to Sandra K. Green, who survives of the home.

Herbert served his country honorably in the US Marine Corp and later in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Flight Training in Class 67-21 was assigned to the 176th Avn Company as a helicopter pilot during his first tour in Vietnam. After a short assignment stateside, he was assigned to a second tour in Vietnam with C Company of the 228th, 1st Cav. He was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot, Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2591. He was stationed at Ft. Ord, in California retiring in 1983.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and traveling.

Herbert is survived by four children, Thomas Kerr, of Seattle, WA and Joel Kerr and his wife Kellie of Tacoma, WA; one step-son, Joe Miera, of Riverside, CA,  and one step-daughter, Sunny Miera of Sedalia, MO; one brother Harry L. Kerr and his wife Tina of Copperas Cove, TX ; eight grandchildren, Sean, Justin, Chloe, Zack, Blaize, Wyatt, Chase, and Bailey.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Long, Bea Kerr, and Helen Kerr.

A memorial Graveside service was held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 1st, 2012 at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 2591.
