I left the Army at the end of my commitment. My wife (Patty) and I were married 2 weeks before I left for Viet Nam. Our tour in Germany was the first time we actually lived together on our own.

We returned home and both of us returned to college. We moved around some due to work opportunities and the spirit of adventure. That put education on hold a little longer. Eventually we returned to Missouri returned to college and graduated together in 76.

After several years away from the military I joined the Missouri National Guard. While flying for the Guard I met several folks who were flying EMS. That led to a position with Rocky Mountain Helicopters and I flew EMS based at the University of Missouri Hospital Program for nearly 15 years. Over those 15 years I held several positions including, line pilot, Safety Officer, Lead Pilot, Aviation Services Manager and ultimately Program Director. I continued to work for RMH and became Regional Operation Manager with over-site of 24 programs and 30 bases around the central US. During that time Rocky Mountain Helicopters was purchased by Air Methods Corporation. After 25 years I continue to work for Air Methods as Business Director for Hospital Based Air Medical Services.

I continued my military career with the National Guard. While with the guard I had several short deployments to locations such as Honduras, Panama, Germany, and Guatemala as well as locations all around the US. In 2003 my unit was activated and I spent a tour of duty at Ballad, Iraq in 2004. We returned in early 2005. I retired from the military in 2007.

I’m still married to Patty and we have two grown sons and one very special 6 year old granddaughter. Patty has retired from teaching and has plenty of time to spoil our grand daughter. We live in Jefferson City; we grew up here and our families are here.
