
Captain Michael “MIK” Mikulan
“Mik” joined the Army in 1966, completed Basic and Advanced training, Army Engineer Officer Candidate School then volunteered for and completed Army Helicopter Flight School. He served in the Republic of Vietnam all of 1969 as a “Slick” UH-1D Pilot and battalion level Combat Aviation Operations Officer; reassigned to the Panama Canal Zone, he flew ‘Peacekeeper” missions for the Organization of American States (OAS) in Honduras and El Salvador throughout 1970-1973; performing disaster relief and support missions for the Nicaraguan, Costa Rican and Panamanian governments and support to Army Jungle Operations Training and Survival Schools. He completed the Combat Engineer Career Course, Army Fixed Wing Transition Course and was reassigned to West Germany for three years. He used the GI Bill to get his BSN degree in Nursing from Pacific Lutheran University, WA. After 10 years combined in the Army Reserves and National Guard, he graduated from the Army Command and General Staff College, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a Senior Army Aviator on flight status for 19 years. Transferring his commission to the U.S. Public Health Service he worked in Springfield, MO for 11 years at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, a Maximum security Federal Prison Hospital. He retired after 27 years, with the rank of Commander. He lives in Fair Grove, MO. His message to you is, “we are all proud of your service and sacrifices.” AIM HIGH.
